Wichita Heights’ Isabel Einevich – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Emprise Bank

Wichita Heights’ senior Isabel Einevich has big plans for her senior season, and has the motivation to fuel all her hard work.

“I started running track at about 4 years old with leg braces as support, and started using a racing chair at 9 and never really looked back. It’s given me the ability to see improvement and push myself to be my best. My motivation is and has been for years to see how far I can go with this sport and make myself proud to be an adaptive athlete,” Einevich said.

As the only wheelchair athlete at Heights, Einevich spends a lot of her time training by herself, but that doesn’t stop her from success. Last season Einevich placed second in the 100 meter and first in the 400 meter and 1600 meters, where she is now the Kansas state record holder with a time of 5:37.

Not only is Einevich talented, Heights head coach Brandon McMillen commends her positive attitude and hard work on the track.

“She rarely gets upset with her performances but instead is always focused on how she can do better and be ready for her next race,” McMillen said. “Don’t let her amiable nature fool you though. Once she is on the track, Isabel turns super competitive and pushes herself to the limit every race. She is an athlete through-and-through. She hasn’t stopped training since State and is ready to reach her goals.”

Einevich is still undecided about which college she will be attending she will be studying Communication Sciences and Disorders in undergrad as well as Spanish and American Sign Language.

“Unfortunately there are very few colleges with an adaptive track program so it is very likely I will end up having to compete as an independent if I do not attend one of those schools,” Einevich said
