Beyond the Court: Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Collyns Livermore Making an Impact Through Leadership and Service – Presented by Braden Carter Farmers Insurance

For Kapaun Mt. Carmel sophomore Collyns Livermore, making a difference means much more than delivering a winning point on the volleyball court. Whether she’s helping introduce younger athletes to the game, supporting the American Heart Association or pursuing academic excellence, the Crusaders’ standout is already making an impact beyond athletics.

The 6-foot-1 outside hitter and setter has quickly established herself among Kansas’ talented young volleyball players. Her sophomore season brought another impressive accomplishment when she earned her first selection to the Kansas Class 5A State All-Tournament Team. Livermore also received First Team All-City recognition for the second consecutive year.

Despite those athletic achievements, her interests and aspirations extend well beyond the gym.

“I’m really interested in anything math or science related!” Livermore said. “I would definitely be interested in something along the lines of medical/dental school or the finance route!”

Her academic achievements reflect those ambitions. Livermore earned Kansas Volleyball Association All-Academic First Team recognition following her freshman season, demonstrating the same commitment in the classroom that has fueled her athletic success.

Community involvement is another important part of her life. Livermore enjoys spending time with family and friends, helping at volleyball clinics for younger players and supporting organizations that make a difference.

“I love getting the younger generation interested in the sport that has done so much for me!” she said.

Livermore has also become involved with the American Heart Association, previously serving as an ambassador. It’s another example of her desire to make a positive impact outside of competitive athletics.

That willingness to help others carries over to her leadership on the court, where Livermore was voted team captain as a sophomore, an impressive responsibility for an underclassman.

“It means so much to have the trust and support of my teammates and coaches as an underclassman captain,” Livermore said. “I’ve had a great experience through club playing with older teammates, and I know how important it is to have great leadership and encouragement in a captain role.”

Kapaun Mt. Carmel head coach Heather Holovach sees those qualities every day.

“Her knowledge of the game is unmatched,” Holovach said, describing Livermore as an exceptionally competitive player whose strong work ethic is contagious throughout the gym.

Her athletic credentials reinforce that confidence. As a freshman, Livermore collected 298 kills, 217 assists, 194 digs, 20 aces and 28 blocks while earning her first All-City honor. Her versatility as a six- rotation outside hitter and setter has made her a valuable part of the Crusaders’ program.

During the 2026 season, Livermore helped Kapaun Mt. Carmel capture a Class 5A sub-state championship and advance to the state tournament. Her State All-Tournament selection marked another milestone in an already impressive young career.

Yet the statistics and postseason awards tell only part of her story.

From her academic ambitions and community involvement to her commitment to developing younger players, Livermore understands that leadership is about more than personal accomplishments.

With two high school seasons remaining, her future on the court is certainly promising. But her contributions as a student, volunteer and teammate may prove just as meaningful.

“I feel so privileged to have been placed in that position!” Livermore said of serving as captain. “I love this team!”
