Derby’s Austyn Teufel – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

The senior golfer from Derby High School Austyn Teufel is wanting to enjoy the last season of high school golf. A goal set this season by Teufel is to make the state tournament at the end of the season. During last year as a junior, Teufel was not allowed to play on the varsity team because of a KSHSAA rule, so making state this season would mean a lot to Teufel in her final year of golf.

During the offseason, Teufel spent time going to the driving range and working on different aspects of the swing. Now being on varsity and spending extra time at the driving range, Teufel will surely make a difference for The Panthers this fall season.

After graduation this coming spring, Teufel would like to continue playing golf at the collegiate level but is currently undecided of which college to attend at this point. Teufel eventually has the goal to attend medical school and become either a surgeon or an orthopedic physician.

In addition to playing golf during the fall season, Teufel keeps a busy schedule. During sophomore and junior year, Teufel participated in wrestling for the winter season. Freshman year, Teufel played softball during the spring season.

Derby opened their golf season September 3rd at home at the Derby Golf and Country Club. AVCTL will be played on October 7th at Sim Park Golf Course hosted by opponent Maize. If Teufel makes the state tournament, the 6A golf tournament will be played in Hutchinson at Carey Park October 21st and 22nd.
