Maize’s Cambri Dietz – Cross Country Spotlight – Presented by ICRYO

Cambri Dietz, a cross-country runner from Maize is running the final season of
high school cross country. In addition to cross country, Dietz also runs distance in
track in the spring season. During the season, Dietz wanted to see improvement.
Dietz was out earlier because of an injury and didn’t know what to expect with
running times during the season. A goal for the team is to work on team chemistry
by having a good team bond and work together well during the season to finish out
the season strong.

Dietz enjoys running in the rain when given the chance. “When it rains, we play
puddle wars where when we are running you jump in the puddles you find and try
to splash the people you’re running with.” When practicing, Dietz likes running in
town as well. “When we have town runs, we always hit the Victory Street sign as
good luck.”

To prepare for the season, Dietz participated in summer and winter training. While
running this season, Dietz was proud of the results from the Rim Rock meet. “It’s a
hard course and to do that mentally made me feel like a stronger runner.”

Plans for Dietz after graduation this coming spring include working towards a
degree in veterinary medicine. Dietz would like to attend a two-year college and
then transfer to Kansas State University. In addition to running, Dietz is part of a
pre vet med club where members teach little kids how to work with and be safe
with animals.
