Now a veteran of the Augusta boys basketball program, Brody Haskell knows what he has to do this season.
“I am excited to help the underclassmen improve throughout this year and be a positive leader for our team,” Haskell said.
Haskell took the role of a veteran to a new level throughout the offseason.
“Using our summer program as well as playing a tournament this summer with some of our younger guys,” Haskell said.
Last season, Haskell averaged eight point and three assists per game, while shooting 70 percent from the free throw line. The most notable statistic however is shooting 26 percent from the three-point line and 37 percent from the floor.
Haskell knows he has to improve those percentages.
“Something I want to improve on his shooting the ball more consistently,” Haskell said. “I got a lot of shots up this summer and made it a main focus in improving my game for this winter.”
This season is about getting better and getting wins in the process for Haskell. But he knows he might have to carry more responsibility.
“My goals for the season are helping our underclassmen improve because we have a young team,” Haskell said. “Getting them ready for the future and putting them in the position to make an impact this year. Individually I would like to make first team all-league but that is not a main focus. I just want to win.”
