Butler CC’s Maycee James – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Butler Community College

Butler Community College’s Maycee James had a lot to offer in high school, and the hard work paid off enough to get her to the next level.

James knows her potential, and is ready to get out and compete this season.

“My expectations for our team is to compete this year, and if we do that good things will happen,” James said. “We have had a lot of success in preseason and we are looking to continue that.”

Besides the basic offseason training and conditioning with the team, James put in the work on her own to grow as a basketball player.

“I put up a lot of shots in order to be a threat on the perimeter and have a consistent jump shot,” James said. “Last year I felt I was a one dimensional player and I want to be dynamic this year.”

James’ goals for the season are to be a better teammate and athlete, and benefit the team in any way possible.

“My personal goals are getting my teammates the ball in positions to score in order to raise my assists,” James said. “I am also looking to score more this year at all three levels. My team goals are to go to Nationals and go undefeated at home.”

Over the long basketball seasons, James has made countless memories.

“In high school my favorite memory was making the game winning free throw against Eisenhower at Eisenhower senior year,” James said. “And college so far it was sweeping Hutch last year.”

At Butler, James is taking journalism classes to further her education, and hopes to be on TV one day.

“Journalism and broadcasting is my major and my end goal is to be a sideline reporter,” James said.
