Butler Community College Hosts 2025 Fiber Optics Boot Camp

This summer, the Butler Community College Career and Workforce Education Department is thrilled to host their Fiber Optics Boot Camp for the next generation of tech talent. This event takes place Monday through Friday, June 2 – 6.

This free five-day event for high school students offers hands-on training from industry professionals. On the final day, participants can also attend a career fair featuring a diverse range of companies and potential employers.

“I’m excited about this opportunity to give high school students a platform to learn new skills and get hired [in the industry]. We put a lot into this and hope for a great attendance. It’s a win-win for everyone involved,” said Butler’s Career and Workforce Education Director Michelle Ruder, who has played a major role in planning the event.

Attendees who successfully complete the program will earn three certifications recognized by the Fiber Optics Association: Certified Fiber Optics Technician, Certified Fiber Optics Specialist/Testing & Maintenance, and Certified Fiber Optics Specialist Outside Plant Cabling.

Students 17 and older are welcome with no prior experience necessary. Additionally, recent graduates of high school and Butler are encouraged to register. Free lunch will be provided each day for those who attend.
