As Rowan Foster enters his senior year at Derby High School, the multi-sport athlete is gearing up for one last run on the football field while already having his future locked in on the diamond. Foster, a wide receiver for the Panthers, has a simple but focused mindset heading into the 2025 season: help the team win by doing his job, whether that’s catching passes or making key blocks.
Foster is especially looking forward to Week 1, when Derby takes on Hays in a highly anticipated matchup. It will be a great matchup for both teams, so Foster and the team hope for the win against Hays to start the season off on the right foot. He also has his eyes on the playoffs, where the ultimate dream is chasing a state title.
During the offseason, Foster focused on improving his speed and adding strength. While football is important, his summer schedule has been filled with baseball, his primary sport. Foster is committed to play baseball at the University of St. Thomas and is on track to graduate with an associate degree in criminal justice.
Though he doesn’t track his football stats closely, Foster was proud to earn honorable mention as a receiver last season. What was more important to Foster was how close the receiver group was last season, especially in how they worked together in their blocking.
Off the field, Foster works when he can, hangs out with friends, and enjoys gaming. With discipline and versatility, he’s set to finish his Derby career strong.
