Growing up, it’s always a dream for most athletes to start for their high school as a freshman. For Campus’ Aiden Weaver he made that dream come true last year. But you can bet, Weaver isn’t a one hit wonder.
“I live football, I do everything in my life with the intention of being the best player I can be, by learning something or challenging myself in the weight room,” Weaver said. “I am always trying to be better and finding new ways to give myself an edge. I also dedicate a lot of time on film, I can always find something to improve on or pick up a pattern on the other side of the ball and I believe that the way I translate that to the field makes my way of playing some of the most consistent and effective.”
Weaver is a middle linebacker and edge rusher for the Campus Colts and has one of the more unique opportunities as he will one day be a four-year starter in hopes of helping turn Campus football around for the better.
“My leadership on the field and the trust I have with my teammates and coaches, I believe the work I put in shows on the field and my effort won’t ever be questioned,” Weaver said. “The amount of trust my coaches show they have in me gives me the belief and confidence that I’ve always lacked. I love those guys and I’ll always appreciate that and let that humble me, I hold myself to the highest standard and will never expect anything less.”
Weaver contributed 35 tackles, five TFLs and 2.5 sacks last year. But he isn’t satisfied with that.
“This year I want our defense to do one thing, prove we’re a physical hard working gritty team,” Weaver said. We’re right there to achieve this and when we do it’s going to be a whole different Colts football team. My personal goals for this year are to have a 100 plus tackling season and make first or second team all-league in the AVCTL.”
