Wichita Northwest’s Augie Fast – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Two Brothers BBQ

Wichita Northwest’s Augie Fast quite literally burst onto the scene last year for the Grizzlies where he showed his versatility, playing running back, wide receiver, safety, returning kicks and punts and even as a blocker.

“My coachability and versatility make me a standout player,” Fast said. “I appreciate the feedback my coaches give me, internalize it, and make adjustments. Being able to play a variety of positions on the field allows me to step in wherever my coaches need me and positively contribute to the team.”

Fast has lived up to his last name as he accumulated over 1800-plus all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns ,as well as being named an all-league first team running back, and an all-state first team selection as a junior.

Now as a senior he has even more to prove.

“The most important goal is for our team to go undefeated and win a state title,” Fast said. “Personally, I want to rush for over 2,200 yards and average 13 yards/carry.”

Fast, who has played football since he was in third grade uses his speed and agility to make big plays every time he touches it, and his huge impact has helped him pick up two offers to play football at the next level as he has offers from Drake University, Northwest Missouri State University. The senior is overly focused on this season with Northwest, but knows that he will soon have to pick a college where he believes will keep developing him into a big time playmaker.
