Senior Skyler Thimesch plays running back and defensive line for the Cunningham Wildcats and he is excited to play his final season with the team he has known all four years.
“My class and I have been through a lot over the years, and I’m excited to see the growth we can have as a team this season. I am most excited to push ourselves to State and hope to win State this year,” Thimesch said.
This season Thimesch is going to have more of a leadership role for the Wildcats, and he is very excited to step into it.
“One goal I have is to be a good leader to the younger teammates. I want to leave behind a legacy that can be continued and grown upon,” Thimesch said. “I will be one of our captains on the team this next year. I try to be a role model off and on the field to all the younger athletes. I try to bring the excitement and energy to the field and in the locker room to pump up the team.”
As a running back, speed is important. Thimesch spent this offseason working on just that.
“I want to improve my running form to gain more speed on the field, and on defense I need to work on flexibility and mobility with staying low into my tackles,” Thimesch said. “I’ve worked on keeping my elbows tucked tight to my sides and head up to perfect my form so I can be faster and to stay low. I’ve been doing a lot of drills running through bags.”
