Friday’s high school football scores (Sept. 19)

By Blake Chadwick

Maize has now won eight straight regular-season games, handing previously unbeaten Hutchinson a 56-19 loss.

The Eagles were up 49-7 at halftime thanks in big part to quarterback Brayden Myovela, who impressed again, leading the Eagles to a 3-0 start and helping coach Gary Guzman get his 200th career win as a head coach.

Andale remains unbeaten, dominating again in a 53-13 win over Rose Hill.

In another back-and-forth battle for Wichita Northwest, the Grizzlies were in a dog fight against Junction City early.

Thankfully for the Grizzlies, the backfield of Jaylen Mason and Augie Fast proved to be too much as they went on to win 31-21 to remain perfect on the season.

Kapaun handled City League foe Wichita East, winning 38-7. The Crusaders stay undefeated at 3-0.

Sterling won a shootout over Inman 60–47 to move to 3-0 in a battle of undefeated teams.

Chaparral is 3-0 after a 42-20 win over Belle Plaine.

Derby continues to get their swagger back with a 57-21 win over Salina South.

Junior running back Arieus Finley finished his day with two touchdowns and 178 rushing yards on nine attempts.

Salina Central is undefeated at 3-0 after taking care of Campus 62-13.

Bluestem moves to 2-1 for the first time since 1990 with a 42-20 win over Fredonia.

Douglass’ Carter Green rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns as his Bulldogs beat Conway Springs 44-3.
