Friday’s high school football semifinals (Nov. 21)

By Blake Chadwick

In a big-time battle of undefeated teams in Class 3A, Andale did what it does best – win easily. Andale beat Rock Creek 41-7 to advance to yet another state championship game.

Andale was led by Sam Harp with 124 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

In the Class 5A quarterfinals, the Salina Central Mustangs were able to hold off undefeated Great Bend 30-28 to reach their first state championship game in 20 years.

Salina Central found itself up 23-6 when Great Bend got it going to cut the lead to 23-21 before the Mustangs would do just enough to keep Great Bend at bay to clinch their spot in the championship game.

In Class 4A, Kapaun dominated from start to finish to knock off Wamego 56-7.

In Class 2A, unbeaten Southeast of Saline knocked off Hoisington, which was previously undefeated, to look for a chance to go back to back.

Also in Class 2A, Sterling pulled out a tough game against Smith Center to win 14-6 to punch their ticket.
