Campus’ Riley Emerson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Community Bank

By Matt Browning

Campus High School’s Riley Emerson has been with the business program since she was a sophomore and her interest stemmed from things she already enjoyed.

“I got involved because I wanted to explore career options that connected to things I already enjoyed, such as problem-solving, math, and being a part of hands-on projects,” Emerson said. “I also saw older students having opportunities through the school bank and the coffee shop, which made me curious about what the program had to offer.”

Emerson has learned so much about herself while in the business program and she also has improved many key attributes that will serve her well when she gets into the real world.

“Being in the business program has taught me a lot about communication, professionalism, leadership, and problem-solving,” Emerson said. “I’ve learned how to work as part of a team, how to manage time effectively, and how to stay organized when balancing school, work, and activities. Through things like the school bank and the coffee shop. I’ve also developed customer service skills, financial knowledge, and experience handling real responsibilities. These skills transfer directly to life after high school.”

After she graduates, Emerson plans on going to college to study accounting.

“Accounting ties directly into the business skills I’ve already learned, and I enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, and understanding how money moves within a business,” Emerson said. “My goal is to build a career in the business and finance field, and the foundation I’ve built through the campus business program has helped me feel confident about that path.”
