Andover Central High School

As a center back, senior Cruz Sanchez is stepping into his final high school soccer season for Andover Central with high aspirations and a strong sense of purpose. A key figure in the back line, Sanchez is determined to help lead his team to a regional championship while also aiming to earn a spot as one of the state teams, an honor that would reflect his consistent performance and growth over the years.

Sanchez has already built an impressive resume. Last season, he was named First Team All-League and Second Team Metro, accomplishments he values deeply. “I’m really grateful for those honors,” he shared with Vype Magazine.

During the offseason, Sanchez focused on improving his conditioning and footwork, recognizing the importance of staying sharp and agile in such a physically demanding position. Through dedicated workouts and regular training sessions, he’s prepared himself for the high stakes matches ahead.

Among the games Sanchez is most excited about this year are the matchups against Newton and longtime rival Andover. These games always bring extra energy, and they are the ones a soccer fan wants to circle on the calendar.

Off the field, Sanchez is equally driven. He plans to attend the University of Kansas to study pre-med and is currently a member of the Central Spanish National Honor Society at his high school, reflecting his academic dedication and commitment to service.

With a solid foundation and big goals in sight, Cruz Sanchez is ready to make his final season one to remember, both as a defensive leader and as a student preparing for a bright future.
