Cheney’s Jackson Voth – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Visit Wichita

From the moment Cheney’s Jackson Voth stepped foot into the weight room last summer before the season, not one second was wasted.

He and the Cardinals had one thing on their minds, which was winning a state championship.

After Cheney defeated Topeka Hayden 34-7 in the 3A championship game, it made all of that hard work for Voth and his teammates worthwhile.

“The reason being that there was never a rep wasted in the weight room over the summer, or a drill wasted at practice,” Voth said. “We all knew how much work we had to put in to be great and achieve our goal.”

Not only was nothing taken for granted in the preseason process, but Voth and the Cardinals bought into every detail of the regular season.

“My team’s performance was nothing short of amazing,” Voth said. “They did such a phenomenal job all season of working hard and getting prepared for every game. They were bought in from the very start and it showed.”

Voth, who caught 77 balls for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns, was the focal point of a Cheney offense that was as versatile as any in the state. Voth also ran for 359 yards and 11 more touchdowns.

“I think my overall performance of the season was good,” Voth said. “I feel that I did my role to the best of my abilities on both sides of the ball.”

Voth and many of his teammates grew up together dreaming of what they accomplished in 2023. They could not have asked for a better conclusion.

“The best memory I had this season was winning state with my best friends,” Voth said. “This was a dream we all shared growing up and for it to happen made the best memory possible.”
