Andover Central’s Jaxson Green – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by One Shot Sports Apparel

Andover Central running back Jaxson Green is heading into the new high school football season with a clear focus on finishing strong, building on a breakout junior campaign and chasing another major statistical milestone.

Green, who earned All-State honors last season, said the upcoming schedule is one of the biggest sources of excitement as the Jaguars prepare for a competitive slate that includes an early matchup with a familiar rival.

“I’m most excited about our new schedule we have this season! We play Andover second game! I can’t wait to finish out the season strong!” Green said.

On the field, Green has already established himself as one of the top offensive threats in the area. Last season, he rushed for 1,649 yards and 19 touchdowns while totaling 1,942 all-purpose yards. He also earned All-Metro honors, First-Team All-League recognition as a kick returner and All-State honors at running back.

Even with that production, Green said his preparation this offseason has been intentional and demanding as he looks to take another step forward.

“What I have been doing to prepare for the season is, training with Brian Butler, lifting, going to the field when I can to do running back work, and I’m eating right trying to gain some weight! I also been to a couple football camps I went to Hutch Community College, Drake, Memphis mega camp, and Missouri Western. These camps helped me a lot with recruiting and developing my skills as a running back!” he said.

Those camp experiences, including stops at Hutchinson Community College, Drake, the Memphis Mega Camp and Missouri Western, have helped him refine his game and gain exposure in the recruiting process. Much of his focus has been on improving the finer details of the running back position.

Green said his development this offseason has centered on correcting key areas that can separate good backs from elite ones at the next level.

“Some areas I want to improve on are, blocking, taking care of the ball always, and being more patient and letting the hole develop. I feel like I’ve been working on all of these by going to the football camp and learning from coaches and by me training and going to the field on my own I’ve worked on it all!” he said.

That extra work has included training sessions with Brian Butler, weightlifting, and additional time on the field working through running back drills. Green said the combination of structured coaching and self-directed work has helped him better understand how to slow the game down mentally.

Looking ahead, Green is setting ambitious goals for both himself and the Jaguars. Individually, he is targeting a major statistical milestone that would put him among the most productive backs in the state. Collectively, he wants to see his team take a step forward after what he described as a season of growth.

“Some goals that I have for the season are, I just want to make it to 2000 all purpose or to get 2000 rushing yards! As for the team I want us to keep developing and I want to just be the best team player and I want us to make it far in the playoffs, because last year we were kind of a new bunch I feel like we’ve developed a lot over the summer and we’re ready!” Green said.
