As a new season begins, Paxton McLeod of Andover Central has wasted no time getting back into rhythm on the lanes.
“We just wrapped up our tryouts for the team,” McLeod said. “I’ve been going to bowl as much as I can during the offseason. I’ve been working on some areas of weakness too during the offseason.”
With high expectations and a strong returning group, McLeod and his teammates have their sights set on the biggest accomplishment possible.
“Our goal is definitely to be back to back state champions this year,” McLeod said. “I hope to average about 210, but most importantly focus on picking up spares.”
McLeod is most curious about how his team will handle the ups and downs that come with competition.
“I’m really excited to see how our team reacts when we are doing really well vs doing poorly,” McLeod said. “I think that will determine how our season goes.”
Looking back, McLeod still remembers vividly the moment everything came together last season.
“Last year at state, waiting at the end hearing our school name getting first place out of all the schools there was pretty special,” McLeod said.
As he looks toward the future, bowling remains a major part of his plans.
“My future plans are to continue to bowl at Barton Community College and major in something business,” McLeod said.
