The Andover girls basketball team went to the 5A tournament last year and Brooke Walker, one of the Trojans top players a year ago, wants to experience that again.
“I am most excited to play in the state tournament,” Walker said. “Obviously we have to perform well to get there, but I had a blast playing in it last year and I want to do it again.”
Being able to get ready for basketball season was a challenge for Walker this fall, but she made the most of it, while winning a championship.
“I have been training and weightlifting,” Walker said. “I have also been heavily involved in high school tennis this fall and won the doubles state championship and won the team state title for the third year in a row.”
Walker averaged over 17 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals last season, while shooting 47 percent from the field, on her way to being a first team all-league and all-state selection.
That has not stopped Walker from wanting to take her game to another level.
“I want to improve my finishing around the rim,” Walker said. “I have been working on different pivots to use. I also want to improve my three-point shot and make it more consistent with depth. I have been training these shots during my workouts.”
