Campus’ Gericho Moore – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Rachel Janes Shelter Insurance

Campus football coach Cody Peabody knows exactly what he’s going to get from running back Gericho Moore every single minute of every single game and practice.

“Gericho has progressed at Campus from a great player to a great leader,” Peabody said. “His energy and toughness is infectious.”

Moore admits that he’s not a verbal leader, but it hasn’t stopped him.

“(What makes me a good player) is the respect and relationship I have with the team,” Moore said. “… I talk through my pads and it shows in my performance.”

There’s more to Moore, though.

“Gericho is an all-around back,” Peabody said. “Whether that is lead blocking on jet, stepping up on pass protection, running and catching the ball. He has no holes in his game.”

For Moore, he has put in the time and effort. He has a specific routine that includes getting up early, practicing hard with the team and working in the weight room to get stronger.

But he has also worked to continue connecting with his team.

“(I’ve gotten better) at learning to appreciate my teammates and trusting my ability to take charge on the field,” Moore said. “(To help my team, I need) a positive attitude and encouragement that we work as a team and we can rely on each other.”
