Campus’ Shawn Ho – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

By Ken Hansard

Shawn Ho, a senior golfer for the Campus High Colts, stumbled onto his love of the sport almost by accident, “My buddy asked me to go play golf with him. I found the game to be very hard, and I took it as a challenge.  From that point on, I simply wanted to get better and better.”

That idea of competing and facing challenges has really defined Ho’s career as a high school athlete. “My goal is always just to play and compete as hard as I can. Golf definitely has its mental challenges. You just have to compete and struggle to keep your mind in check.”

To prepare for the season, Shawn has put in a lot of time on the links with his friends.  Part of his joy and excitement for the game comes from playing new courses and meeting new people, “I’m looking forward to visiting courses around the area and working to improve my game while also making new connections with other players.”

In the end, Shawn simply wants to play and, of course, compete, “I think our team will be pretty solid. We have a lot of new guys, but we all have the guts to go out and compete each time we are on the course.”

Shawn, who also played football for Campus as a freshman and sophomore, is a standout in the classroom and carries a 3.7 G.P.A. After graduation, he plans to attend Butler Community College to study finance.  He would also like to obtain a real estate license.
