Cedar Vale-Dexter’s Jordan Davis – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Bullseye Bow

Cedar Vale-Dexter underclassman Jordan Davis is approaching the upcoming season with a mix of patience, ambition and steady offseason work, aiming to carve out a bigger role while learning from the upperclassmen he has long looked up to.

“I’m most excited about getting the opportunity to play alongside the upperclassmen I’ve looked up to for years,” Davis said. “As a younger player, it’s exciting to be able to compete on the varsity field, contribute to the team’s success, and continue building my skills and experience. I’m looking forward to proving myself, improving every week, and making an impact whenever I get the chance.”

Davis said his offseason has been packed with baseball, weight training and extra work with teammates, all designed to prepare him for a larger role this fall.

“This offseason, I’ve stayed busy by playing baseball, which has helped me stay athletic, keep my arm strong, and stay in game shape,” he said. “I’ve also been attending my school’s summer weights and conditioning program to get stronger and improve my overall fitness. On top of that, I’ve been training with my coach and our quarterback to sharpen my football skills and build chemistry. I’m doing everything I can to make sure I’m ready to compete this season.”

While Davis is eager to contribute, he also has a clear focus on development, particularly expanding his versatility on both sides of the ball.

“One area I want to improve on this year is becoming a more versatile and aggressive player who can make an impact on both sides of the ball,” he said. “I want to help my team in every way possible, no matter where I’m needed. During the offseason, I’ve worked on different positions, competed in multiple sports, and stayed active to improve my speed, reaction time, and overall athleticism. I’m confident all of that preparation will help me play at a higher level this season.”

His goals for the year reflect both individual milestones and team success.

“One goal I have this season is to make a big impact on the field and hopefully even have the chance to break some school or state records,” Davis said. “Another individual goal is to prove to myself, my coaches, and future coaches that underclassmen deserve an opportunity to prove what they can do on the varsity field and in practice. As a team, my goal is to do whatever I can to help us win games, compete for a championship, and have a successful season together.”

On the field, Davis has set ambitious statistical targets: 35 passing touchdowns, 15 rushing touchdowns and 80 total tackles.

Looking ahead, he hopes his athletic career continues beyond high school.

“My future plans are to continue pursuing my athletic career, whether that’s in football or baseball,” Davis said. “My dream is to earn the opportunity to play at a well-rounded Division I college while earning my degree. After college, I’d like to become a lineman or work as a coach or teacher because I enjoy sports and helping others improve. No matter which path I take, I plan to keep working hard, chasing my goals, and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.”
