Mattie Galliher is a middle hitter from Trinity Catholic High School who wants to
focus on being a good team leader this year for teammates. Galliher wants to use
the season also to continue to improve in all parts of the game of volleyball. “Keep
striving to be better and not settling.” As for the team, Galliher and teammates
have made a goal to make it far into substate play and hopefully go to state as well.
“We also want to play for each other and enjoy every minute.”
Adversity is the word Galliher used when asked what she was most looking
forward to this season. “This season I am looking forward to adversity and playing
tough teams because it makes us better.” With this growth mindset, Galliher and
teammates are sure to reach their goals this season.
During the offseason, Galliher played club volleyball through Salt City Smash.
Galliher also attended volleyball camps, not only as a team, but some individually
as well. With all the extra practice, Galliher can show even greater depth for the
team. Last season, Galliher shared a stat she was most proud of. “I was most proud
of my serve receive stats, especially because I have always wanted to get better at
it.”
In addition to volleyball in the fall, Galliher also plays softball during the spring
season. As of right now, Galliher has not decided on which college to attend in the
future but has expressed interest in an area in the medical field.
