Maize South’s Paige Schuler – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

By Ken Hansard

Paige Schuler had quite a career for the Maize South bowling team – a career that she will now parlay into the opportunity to bowl at the collegiate level.

Schuler bowled for the Mavericks in each of her four years, and in each of those years, her season finished on the lanes at the state tournament.  When reflecting on her final high school season, Paige had this to say, “Going into the season, I was really just looking forward to having a great senior year with my team. I also looked forward to some of my favorite tournaments and going to state for a fourth time.  And I was also excited because I was voted team captain!”

Paige placed in three of her four years at the AVCTL (Division I) championships, finishing eighth as a freshman, ninth as a junior, and eighth as a senior.  Additionally, during her time as a Maverick, she earned recognition as a 5A Second-Team All-Kansas bowler.  She has also been named Second-Team for the Wichita All-Metro girls’ bowling team.

Paige has rolled a high game of 278 and a high series of 741. When asked what she found most memorable about her accomplishments, she added, “Something I’m very proud of is my team’s second place finish at the 5A State Tournament this year.  I was also really happy with my individual ninth place finish at state as a sophomore.  I went with the team to the state tournament all four years of high school, which is something I look back on with pride.”

When she is not bowling, Paige stays involved and active in many other ways.  She has participated in gymnastics since she was five years old. She has been involved in Unified Bowling, Kay Club, and CACOW.  She carries an impressive 3.9 GPA in the classroom and is a member of the prestigious National Honors Society.  After graduation, Paige plans to enroll at Newman University to bowl and major in nursing.
