Maize’s Brayden Myovela – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Alexandria Johnson Shelter Insurance

To start the 2024 season the Eagles found themselves on a four-game losing streak. As they were scrambling looking for answers, Brayden Myovela, the 6’3 210 athletic juggernaut, gave the Eagles some clarity.

Myovela had the opportunity to play Qquarterback and never looked back, helping the Eagles win five in a row, before being tasked with playing Manhattan, who ended up being the Class 6A runners-up.

The senior is now looking to play even better after he passed for close to 900 yards and ran for 500 more which led to 15 total touchdowns.

“Brayden is an exceptional athlete and quiet leader who leads by example,” head coach Gary Guzman said. “He is a dual-threat quarterback with the ability to get himself out of trouble and make big plays. We will lean on him to lead us on the offensive side of the ball.”

Myovela, who is also a big time basketball player put a lot of that on hold as he started to gain some traction to play Division I football. He gained offers from Tulsa, Boston College, South Dakota, Indiana State, Lindenwood and Bryant.

Now with an even bigger bullseye on his back, the senior knows exactly what he needs to do to finish his career off the right way.

“The team goals are to win districts and then a state championship,” Myovela said. “I need to make plays, and make sure we are all on the same page. We all have the same end goal for the season.”
