Maize High School offensive lineman Nolan Hadley views the upcoming season in a different weight: it is the final chapter of a journey built alongside teammates who have grown up together.
“What I am most excited about for this upcoming season is being able to have one last season with my team and my class,” Hadley said. “We grew up together and we have a special team this year and I’m excited for one last ride.”
Hadley, who anchors the offensive front for Maize High School, has spent the offseason sharpening his game and preparing for a senior campaign he hopes will end with a championship run. The team has been in the weight room and on the field multiple times per week, while Hadley has also taken extra steps to refine his skills.
“In the off-season, we have summer workouts four times a week,” Hadley said. “I’m also working with Rashad Daniels three times a week working on my speed, agility and conditioning. Also doing position work outside of practices with my team.”
One of his main focuses this year is consistency — delivering the same level of performance on every snap.
“One area that I’m wanting to improve on this year is my consistency play to play,” Hadley said. “Making sure I’m using the right technique and going all out. Some ways I’m working on that are pushing myself during the off-season and doing extra position work.”
That attention to detail shows in his track record. Last season, Hadley did not allow a sack while recording 85 knockdowns and pancakes, helping lead Maize to a 10-1 record. His efforts earned him first-team all 6A State honors and a spot on the AVCTL Division 1 first-team offensive line.
For Hadley, individual success matters — but leadership and team goals remain the priority.
“Some goals that I have individually are being a leader for this team and also having my best season yet,” he said. “As a team, we focus one week at a time, but of course the end goal is to come home with the state championship.”
After high school, Hadley has already made his decision to continue his football career at the next level.
“My future plans consist of I am committed to play at the University of South Dakota for football,” he said. “My plan is to major in graphic design.”
