For a lot of athletes, football has been their whole life. For Maize junior Nolan Hadley, football has 100 percent always been his lifelong passion.
The offensive lineman has played the game since his early days in flag football, eventually moving to tackle football in third grade. Now, he’s the only returning starter on the Eagles’ offensive line, which is a role that comes with both responsibility and opportunity.
Hadley’s biggest strengths are his pass protection, quick feet, and ability to move in space.
“I’m comfortable moving laterally while pulling, and I take pride in dominating my opponent—whether it’s on a pass or a run play,” Hadley said.
That versatility is a defining trait. He can play all five positions on the offensive line, and it’s part of what’s made him one of the top linemen in the state.
“Nolan Hadley will be a three-year starter for us on the offensive line and will be expected to be the leader of the group,” Maize Head Coach Gary Guzman said. “Nolan loves the game of football and will play every down until the whistle blows.”
The senior has already drawn attention from the next level, holding a Division I FCS offer from South Dakota University. He’s looking for a program with a strong culture, a quality coaching staff, and an environment where he can grow both as a player and a person.
Now, with all the experience in the world and some big time interest to his name, this year, leadership is a major focus for Hadley.
“I am the only returning starter this year for the O-line, so that leaves me a lot of room to step up and be a leader,” Hadley said.
