As a leader for the Maize Eagles, junior Vincent Rosas hopes to lead his team to a state title.

“There is no better feeling than winning a state title with some of your best friends,” Rosas said. “We recently brought on some new coaches, and they will have a big impact on our team on and off the mat.”

Rosas is wrestling at 138 pounds this season and has put in a ton of work in the offseason.

“I have been working with coaches and teammates on the mat to make the performance jumps that I need to in order to be successful. I have also watched a ton of college wrestling to learn more and what I can improve on,” Rosas said.

Specifically during the offseason Rosas wanted to improve on his hand fighting and decision making on the mat

“I feel like I could still get a lot better if I continue to work on these things,” Rosas said.

As his first year as an upperclassman, Rosas has big plans for him and his team.

“One of my goals this year is to win a tournament in KC called KC Stampede. There is tough competition there, and it is always fun to wrestle the best guys. For the team, I want to win a team state title, as we have the talent to do so,” Rosas said.
