As he heads into his senior season at Oxford, Tucker Ruyle is wanting to embrace a specific role with the Wildcats.
“One thing I’ve always wanted to be is a team leader and somebody that people look up to,” Ruyle said. “So I have been trying to be the best teammate I could through the few games that we have played. I’ve been looking forward to this season, and since we graduated four out of five starters, I knew that a bunch of us were going to have to step up and play well. So I worked and tried to improve my game to help us out this season.”
Sports have been an important part of Ruyle’s life ever since he can remember, so he is wanting to soak up all of the memories this season will bring.
“I can’t even remember when I started,” Ruyle said. “So just looking at this season it just means a lot to me, and to be with the team I’m with just means a lot.”
Getting to the state tournament is something Ruyle and the entire program have been focused on.
“I would like to break the curse and lead our team to state,” Ruyle said. “Team goals are hard to define because most individual goals are for the team, but I think for a team goal is just to work together, help each other, and play as a team. I’ve been playing with my teammates for so long. They are brothers to me now, so we can be a good team this year. We just have to work together.”
