Taishaun Govain is a senior for the Hutchinson High School football team. As a wide receiver for Hutch, Govain has set a goal to have a minimum of 500 receiving yards. In addition to the receiving yards, Govain would like to score 10 touchdowns for the year.
Hutchinson is playing 5A football this year, and a team goal set by Govain and his teammates is to be the number one team in 5A. If this goal happens for The Salthawks, then the second goal set by Govain and his team will naturally come which is to make postseason play.
Senior year is always an exciting time, and Govain is looking forward to all the things that come with senior year. “I’m looking forward to this season having the best last season with all my friends and peers.” Govain is really looking forward to the matchup against Maize South. Last year’s game against Maize South did not go the way Hutchinson was hoping. This year, The Salthawks are coming in prepared.
During the offseason to get prepared for his final high school season of football, Govain trained to improve his speed, agility, lateral quickness, and strength. After these preseason preparations, Govain is looking forward to improving his already impressive stats of 15.8 yards per catch from last season.
Although Govain is not completely sure of his plans after graduation, he is hopeful that sports will be on the list at the collegiate level. Two of Govain’s main sport focuses are basketball and football. Although he has participated in track, basketball and football are the favorites.
