Heading into the 2025-2026 season, Valley Center heavyweight Beau Young is ranked third in his class. He placed sixth at the 5A Tournament last season and finished with a record of 43-15.
So that makes his goals for the upcoming season quite lofty.
“I have three main goals for myself, Young said. “The first one is to go undefeated. The second one is to win state. The third is to take my schools record for most takedowns in a season.”
Young really challenged himself in the offseason to take his game to a new level. Strength and endurance were his primary focuses.
“In the off-season I’ve been spending a lot of time in the weight room getting stronger and more conditioned and more importantly I’ve been training mentally,” Young said. “One thing I want to improve this year is my stamina. I’ve been doing a lot of tough conditioning to make sure my stamina doesn’t limit me.”
The anticipation of the getting the season started for Young is reaching new heights. He is can’t wait to see if he can reach his ceiling by the end of the year.
I’m most excited to see the results of a lot of off-season training and seeing how far it’s going to get me.”
