At 180 pounds, Valley Center’s Jack Lampe is definitely on the small side of offensive linemen in the AVCTL I.
“But he’s overcome his limitations with hard work and dedication,” Valley Center coach Scott L’Ecuyer said. “… One of our team standards is being dogged. Jack epitomizes that standard. He never backs down from a challenge or an opponent.”
One of the reasons for his success is Lampe’s focus in the weight room.
“As an undersized lineman, I knew I would have to try and stand out in some other way, which became my strength,” Lampe said. “… The weight room has been a key part of my success in football.”
The goal for Lampe is to improve each week along with his teammates. But he also knows what he can offer the Hornets.
“I think my strengths in football is my intelligence and that’s what I use to always be in good position, and that’s what makes me a successful player,” Lampe said.
He also uses his skill as a leader.
“Jack’s leadership unifies our offensive line, a position group that has been instrumental in our improvement on offense this year,” L’Ecuyer said. “… He is on leadership council and is one of two senior captains. He is a great communicator and gets a lot out of teammates.”
Lampe is a diehard Hornet. His father played for Valley Center in the 1990s. His brother also played at Valley Center.
“I enjoy the brotherhood of football above everything,” Lampe said. “My teammates can always count on me to keep my composure and have good energy.”
