Valley Center’s Roman Gage – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Shari Lewis Shelter Insurance

Looking to have a successful senior year, Valley Center’s Roman Gage has been grinding this offseason to improve and make his town proud.

Gage plays right guard for the Hornets and last year was named second team all-league.

Gage wanted to focus on his pulling quickness and overall speed this offseason.

“I’ve attended every day of our summer weights program and I attended a total of five football camps this past summer,” Gage said. “I increased my pro agility from 5.03 to a 4.74, my 40 from a 5.42 to a 5.13, and drilled multiple different pulling movements.”

Last year the Hornets finished 3-7, but Gage has big plans for his final year with Valley Center.

“My team goals are to win a 5A regional championship and host a home playoff game, and my individual goal is to get AVCTL DIV 1 1st-TEAM Offensive line,” Gage said.

Gage’s role for Valley center is to be a leader, and a leader is what he emulates, he is team captain and a three year starter.

“I am seen as more of a veteran to my younger teammates,” Gage said. “My motivation for this season is my teammates. The reason being is because we all have been putting in the work and grinding hard. So I want to make sure that none of that hard work goes to waste and we are successful this season.”
