After graduating a large number of seniors, Wellington had a lot of holes to fill this season. However, Colton Bannister, a first team all-league linebacker, returns and is sure to be a big part of Wellington’s success.
“I’m excited to take on any team in our schedule,” Bannister said.
With big shoes to fill, Bannister knows his offseason work is going to come in handy during the long fall season.
“I am getting faster and more explosive during this offseason,” Bannister said. “I am wanting to make it far in the playoffs and I want to shoot for 130 tackles this season.”
Although the season is quickly approaching, Bannister is looking forward to breathing in all of the ‘lasts’ he is going to have with his teammates.
“I am most excited to play one more season with the people I grew up playing with since first grade,” Bannister said.
A new face was playing in 4A last season, but it was no match for a tough Wellington team. A huge win was an all-time favorite memory for Bannister.
“My favorite memory is beating Kapaun last season,” Bannister said. “That was my favorite game of my life.”
