Wichita East’s Claire Buss – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Caleb Hanke State Farm

As a senior outside hitter for Wichita East volleyball, Claire Buss is stepping into her final high school season with purpose and passion to grow as a player and a teammate. Buss is focusing this year on becoming a smarter and more strategic player. “I want to really see the court and use it to my advantage,” she shared with Vype Magazine.

But Buss’ goals go beyond stats and wins. One of her top priorities is bringing consistent, positive energy to the court, no matter what circumstances the team is facing. Another priority this year is creating a strong bond with teammates. “I am looking forward to team dinners and getting to spend quality time with my team off the court,” she shared. Creating lasting memories with the team is an important part of being a senior, adding, “I am just excited to play volleyball with my friends and have fun.”

Buss hasn’t let the summer go to waste either. She’s been hitting the gym, lifting weights, and putting in reps to be stronger and more prepared for her senior season. Her dedication is a reflection of her desire not only to help her team succeed but also to continue her volleyball journey after high school.

Although Buss is still undecided on her future career path and where she will attend college, Buss hopes to continue to play volleyball at the collegiate level. With her work ethic, positive spirit, and love for the game, there’s no doubt Claire Buss is headed toward great things.
