Excited for his final year with the Grizzlies, Wichita Northwest JJ Grove is playing with no regrets his senior season.
Over the offseason, Grove worked on improving his strength but unlike other athletes he focused a lot on his nutrition and recovery.
“My mom helps so much with my nutrition and me eating healthy. And recovery is just as important and my dad, Dr. Jesse Grove helps with that,” Grove said.
Even though this offseason’s highlight was nutrition and recovery, Grove still has time to strengthen some of his shortcomings.
“This year I want to improve on my power aspect. This season I want to prove I can be an extra base machine and hit it all over the field,” Grove said. “This offseason to achieve this goal I made minor tweaks to my swing and focused on core work. I think it will end up paying off.”
As a shortstop for the Grizzlies, Grove is a leader who leads his team by example, and even though he is not the most outspoken, he believes that doing the right things consistently will rub off on others.
Last season, Grove earned first team all-league and second team all-state. This year Grove isn’t too focused on the awards but hopes his hard work will be seen.
“I just want to play to the best of my ability and improve everything. Everything can be improved upon, I love to get better and show what I can do,” Grove said.
