Wichita Trinity’s Harvey Zimmerman has a lot to prove this season after last year’s accolades. The second team all-league and honorable mention all-state selection has worked all offseason to prepare for the upcoming season.
“This year took a bunch of preparation,” Zimmerman said. “You know, staying after practice not only with the guys that are the core of the program but especially the underclassmen and backups and making sure everyone is dialed in ready to go. A roster goes way deeper than the surface and if your bottom guys can’t function when they get their opportunity no one else can do their job.”
The switch between the fall and winter seasons aren’t always easy, but Zimmerman is ready for the transition between sports.
“Football to basketball is a tough transition,” Zimmerman said. “I normally give my body a break and then start back up.”
Zimmerman has big goals for the upcoming season, and he’s hoping for some big achievements.
“Personally I want to be first team all league and second team all state,” Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman wants to continue his football career at the next level, while also furthering his education.
“For college, I want to study either business or criminal justice and play football at the next level wherever that would be the best fit for me,” Zimmerman said.
