As a returning first team all-league defender, Andover Central’s Brynn Bachura believes being the coach on the field is the most important part of her position.
“I would consider my strengths to be my communication skills, leadership, and ability to see the field well,” Bachura said. “As a center back, I am able to see the whole field and read it well. With the addition to my communication skills I can help guide my teammates and connect strategically with one another on the field. With this, I am able to help the field of communication between coaches and players while encouraging confidence in my team and creating an inviting environment.”
Bachura has set two primary goals for her senior season.
“I am hoping to beat our rival, Andover, this year again and win first round of state this year, which Andover Central had never done before,” Bachura said.
From a skills perspective, Bachura is focused on improving technically, and the time she spent working with her club team should help in that area.
“I wanted to improve my technical skills and be more confident with slide-tackling and one-on-one defending,” Bachura said. “These skills are incredibly important to me as a defender who is working on holding a strong back line and preventing goals this season. To improve these skills I practiced and played with an ECNL club team during the fall season, then conditioned and trained during the winter to improve my fitness and get stronger for preseason.”
