Conway Springs’ Lucas Pauly – Athlete Spotlight

As his senior football season approaches, Lucas Pauly is focused on more than wins and statistics. He wants to lead by example and help continue the tradition of success at Conway Springs.

“I am excited to get on the field for my senior year of football and carry on the traditions that have shaped Conway Springs football,” Pauly said. “I am looking forward to one last season with my friends that I have grown up with.”

Pauly has spent the offseason preparing for his final high school campaign through a demanding schedule of strength and speed training. Three mornings each week, he participates in weightlifting and speed workouts before joining teammates for an additional hour of football practice.

His preparation has extended beyond the football field. In June, Pauly attended a weeklong leadership Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., where he worked to strengthen his leadership abilities before returning for his senior season.

“I want to improve my leadership skills for the team and be a good role model, especially for the incoming freshmen,” he said.

Pauly said he plans to lead through both his actions and work ethic.

“I will always do what is right both on and off the field to set a good example for the underclassmen,” he said. “I will put in all my effort during my morning strength, speed and football training to help the team and encourage everyone else to put in the effort so we can get better.”

He also hopes to continue developing as a player by increasing his strength, speed and football knowledge.

“I’ll watch film from previous years for upcoming opponents so I can prepare for games,” Pauly said.

While his focus is on helping the team succeed, Pauly has also set personal goals for his senior year. He hopes to maintain a 3.9 grade-point average, arrive early for every workout and practice, and remain healthy throughout the season.

“My first individual goal is to maintain my 3.9 GPA,” he said. “My second goal is to always be early to all training and practices. I want to stay in good health and play through the whole season while giving all effort during practice and games.”

Team success remains at the top of his priority list. Pauly said he wants Conway Springs to finish with a winning record, dominate fourth quarters and compete for a Class 1A state championship.

“My first team goal is to end the season with a winning record,” he said. “My second team goal is to win every fourth quarter and to not give up. My third team goal is to win Class 1A state.”

Pauly contributed on both sides of the ball during the 2025 season. Offensively, he rushed for 87 yards on 13 carries, averaging 6.7 yards per attempt. Defensively, he recorded 32 tackles, including 22 solo stops, along with one forced fumble and one tackle for loss.
