Cunningham’s Sage Thimesch – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Kingman Healthcare Center

Sage Thimesch is entering her sophomore season with the Cunningham volleyball team focused on more than just wins and losses.

For Thimesch, the upcoming season is an opportunity to grow closer with her teammates, improve throughout the year and see what the Wildcats can accomplish together.

“I’m most excited to grow closer as a team, improve throughout the season, and see how far we can go together,” Thimesch said.

Thimesch put in significant work during the offseason to prepare for her sophomore campaign. She played club volleyball, attended team camps and took individualized lessons designed to strengthen several areas of her game.

Her lessons focused on hitting, passing and serving, giving Thimesch opportunities to build her fundamentals and become a more well-rounded player.

This season, Thimesch has identified hitting as one of the biggest areas she wants to improve. In particular, she has been working on her vertical jump and making better contact at the net.

The goal is to become a more consistent and effective offensive player while continuing to contribute wherever her team needs her.

“My goal is to improve my skills, stay consistent, and become a stronger player for my team,” Thimesch said.

As a freshman, Thimesch contributed 33 kills, 51 digs, 17 blocks and 13 assists. With a year of varsity experience behind her, she enters this season looking to build on that foundation.

While individual improvement is important, Thimesch said the Wildcats’ biggest goals center on what they can accomplish as a team.

“Our goal is to grow together, work hard, and compete for a successful season,” Thimesch said.

With offseason preparation complete and another year of experience under her belt, Thimesch hopes her continued development will help Cunningham make strides throughout the season.
