Georgia Brantner – Wichita East- Volleyball Spotlight-Presented by The Tire Store

Wichita East High’s Georgia Brantner was named to the Honorable Mention All-City volleyball team as a junior.  The middle hitter / blocker ranked number three in the GWAL in blocks.  For most athletes entering senior year, this would likely mean setting goals of being ranked number one and making the All-League First Team.  However, Brantner has had to alter her goals somewhat.

Brantner recently underwent ACL surgery, and unfortunately will not likely be available to compete for the Aces for her final year.  But that doesn’t mean for a second that Brantner is giving up on her team, “I want to be a big motivator for my teammates, helping push them to play as great as I know they can. I plan to show them my support despite not being on the court due to my injury.”

Suffering such a devastating setback would throw many athletes into a tailspin, but Georgia has taken this challenge in stride and is facing her situation with her head held high, “I suppose my goal for this season is to be a helping hand to both my coach and my teammates. There might be a chance for me to play towards the end of the season, though very slim, so I am definitely going to put my all into a speedy recovery.”

Brantner, despite the injury, will have any number of activities to fill her time, as she has many diverse interests and a very full schedule. “I’m a member of many clubs at my school, including Scrubs Club, Engineering Club, and National Honors Society. I am currently working towards my IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma.”  Georgia sports an impressive 3.94 unweighted GPA with a 4.47 weighted GPA and an eye-popping ACT score of 32

After graduation, Georgia plans to go into Chemical or Biomedical Engineering with designs to eventually obtain a Master’s Degree.
