Derby soccer is gearing up for their season, and senior Angel Vielmas wants to be a great team player and contributor to the team this year. The ultimate goal for Vielmas and his teammates is to make state, and Vielmas wants to help his team reach this goal. Vielmas plays as a midfielder or forward for Derby, and he is really looking forward to all the things during his senior year. Just enjoying every moment.
During the offseason, Vielmas has put in extra practice time to help his team reach their goal of state. Endurance was the first thing Vielmas told Vype Magazine about. By increasing his endurance, Vielmas would not get tired by the end of the game. If the game came down to overtime during the season or in the playoffs, he would still be able to be a force for Derby when everyone else is fatigued.
Vielmas was injured during his junior year during the soccer season and had to sit out part of the season because of a surgery. Vielmas is ready to get back out on the field, playing with his team, and showing his competition that surgery did not get him down. Vielmas has been working hard to come back stronger than before.
After graduation this coming spring, Vielmas would like to work towards getting his CDL. However, if the opportunity arises to play soccer in college, he has not dismissed the idea and would be open for a discussion to continue playing for a team at the collegiate level.
