Belle Plaine’s Caleb Ouellette – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Shelter Insurance, Ken Gooch

Caleb Ouellette is a senior center and forward for the Belle Plaine Dragons. Ouellette is an undersized guy but doesn’t let that stop him from making plays.

“I would say that I play as a versatile big that does a little bit of everything, whether that be spot up shooting, posting up, or driving and getting easy buckets under the rim,” Ouellette said. “I can shoot a little bit on the perimeter, but I am most comfortable in the midrange area and underneath the basket.”

After a 13-10 finish a season ago, Ouellete knows that the Dragons can be on the way to making something special happen this year.

“I think what I can do to make us a better team this year is just being dominant in the post,” Ouellette said. “Getting extra rebounds to give our team another possession will be huge in helping us win more games, as well as getting easy shots underneath.”

The senior has been working hard all off-season to make sure he goes out with a boom.

“I have done a lot in the offseason to prepare for this season,” Ouellette said. “I went to the gym over the summer and worked on skill building and staying sharp in the offseason.”

Ouellete gives credit to his weight room work this off-season to the new strength and conditioning coach at Belle Plaine.

“This year they hired a new strength and conditioning coach at Belle Plaine who has been awesome,” Ouellette said. “He really pushes us hard so we can get stronger and more conditioned for sports, and I think it will pay off on the court this season.”
