Class 6A boys
Maize 49, SM South 48 — After Brayden Myovela’s basket put eighth-seeded Maize ahead, teammate Alan Hanna got a steal in the final seconds to seal the win. Myovela scored a team-high 15 points, hitting 7 of 9 field goals with five rebounds, and Alec Grill made three threes. SM South’s Conor Kerrigan scored 22 on 10-of-15 shooting, and John Allen scored 18 points.
SM Northwest 76, Mill Valley 52 — SM Northwest’s Tyler Salmon and Ethan Taylor scored 20 points apiece, and Keaton Wagler 19 as they combined to shoot 23 of 29 from the field. They also combined for 26 rebounds with Salmon leading with 10. Wagler had five assists, and hit 4 of 6 from three. Mill Valley’s Thatcher Ivey had 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, and Reece Riedel scored 15. Dylan Everhart had seven rebounds.
Olathe North 69, Derby 50 — Olathe North, the seventh seed, trailed 18-10 after Derby’s Jack Ulwelling scored with 6:02 to go in the second quarter. But that was Derby’s last field goal until 2:24 remained in the third quarter — nearly 12 minutes later. Olathe North went on a 19-0 run spanning the second and third quarters to take a 31-19 lead. Olathe North was led by Jaalan Watson’s 17 points, Cam Love’s 12 and Bradley Boyd’s 10.Samuel Simmons and Love each had six rebounds, and Simmons had five assists, three steals. Ulwelling led Derby with 13 points, hitting three three-pointers, and Cayden Titus had 11 points, eight rebounds, four steals.
Wichita Heights 64, Washburn Rural 44 — After taking a two-point lead in the first quarter, Heights went on a 16-3 run for a 29-14 lead with 42 seconds remaining in the second quarter — and never lost its double-digit lead. Heights’ Jalihn Timmons scored a game-high 19 points, K’Mari Holt 14 and Chase Robinson 13 points, seven rebounds. Amalachi Wilkins had 11 rebounds and Holt six. Timmons had four assists. Washburn Rural was led by Amare Jones, who scored 16 points and had nine rebounds. John Mike Hoytal had 10 points.
Class 5A girls
St. Thomas Aquinas 51, Hays 48 — Aquinas edges unbeaten Hays, which was led by Jenna Schmeidler’s 18 points and Molly Martin’s 21. Aquinas’ Alex Crouse cored 20 of her 21 points in the second half and Laila Boylan scored 18.
Spring Hill 61, Maize South 56 — Maize South overcame a 12-point deficit and led by three at the end of the third quarter. The Mavericks led 56-55 with 1:22 to go, but Spring Hill scored the next six points. Sydney Buscher scored a game-high 26 points for Spring Hill, hitting 12 of 14 from the free-throw line, and Isla Herman scored 16. Buscher had 13 rebounds, Herman 12. Maize South’s Jaela Thompson scored a team-high 19 points, and Skylar Seals had 12, Charley Hill 13. Aliyah Singhateh had 11 rebounds and three steals.
Topeka Seaman 66, KC Piper 54 — Seaman, which remains unbeaten, was led by Maddie Gragg’s 20 points and Jaida Stallbaumer’s 18. Gragg hit 3 of 5 from three, Ava Esser scored 10 and had 11 rebounds, and Stallbaumer had seven rebounds. KC Piper’s Grace McCallop scored 20 and had eight rebounds, and Faith McCallop had 17 points, five assists, Brylee Gerber eight rebounds.
Andover 49, St. James Academy 44 — Andover’s Bella Bouddhara scored 16 points and Aliyah Green and Asia’H Sullivan each had 10 points. Green had 12 rebounds, and Sullivan had three steals. St. James’ Riley Kerwin made 3 of 4 from three and had a game-high 20 points. Regan Becker scored 12 and had 11 rebounds, and Elle Robinson had eight rebounds.
Class 4A boys
Ottawa 63, Atchison 46 — Ottawa, which remains unbeaten, was led by Aiden McCullough’s 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, along with four assists and three steals. Jayce Mourning had 15 points, five rebounds, and Cole McGrath 11 points. Atchison’s Eric Smith scored 15 and had nine rebounds, and Yogi Purdy had 10 points, five rebounds.
McPherson 60, Baldwin 59 OT — Gabe Pyle hit the game-winner in overtime for McPherson, answering a bucket by Leo Schoenberger just seconds earlier. He scored 23 points, hitting 5 of 10 from three and 6 of 6 from the line, as well as four steals and six rebounds. Jett Pyle had 22 points and Ashton Malm had 11 points, eight rebounds. Baldwin’s Cooper Carr scored a game-high 27 points, hitting 9 of 12 from the field with 10 rebounds. Schoenberger scored 14 with four assists, and Colton Collum had eight rebounds.
Rock Creek 56, Abilene 33 — Coley Burguess scored 21 points, making 4 of 7 from three, and Petere Martinie had nine rebounds. Abilene’s Ian Crump scored 15 points and had six rebounds, Tyler Holloway 10 points, five rebounds. Weston Rock had six rebounds.
Andale 45, Pratt 43 — After Jack Horsch hit a game-tying three-pointer, Austin Baalmaan made the game-winning shot for Andale with 2.3 seconds remaining. Andale scored nine of the game’s final 10 points. Baalman finished with 13 points and five assists, Horsch had 11 points. Pratt was led by Arley Morrell, who scored 27 points and had 13 rebounds.
Class 3A girls
Halstead 50, Neodesha 33 — Addisen Wills scored 19 points and had four assists, five steals, and Bailey Bernal scored 13 with five rebounds. Kaci Young had six rebounds.
Colby 57, Osage City 31 — Colby’s Shaylee Hozmeister scored 23 and Alisabeth Barton had 23 points, 17 rebounds, four assists. Osage City was led by Kaelyn Boss’ 16 points, four steals, and Lexi Boss had eight rebounds.
Hesston 52, Holcomb 37 — After Holcomb took a 14-6 first-quarter lead, Hesston outscored Holcomb 29-12 over the next two periods. Hesston was led by Abby Proctor, who scored 16 as the Swathers stay unbeaten. Callie Yoder scored 12 and Kendal Brueggan 10. Holcomb’s Isabella Galliart had 11 points, Halle Jones six rebounds.
Silver Lake 56, Girard 45 — Silver Lake’s Kailyn Hanni scored 22 points — hitting 16 of 19 from the line — and had 15 rebounds, seven assists, five steals. Teammate Karys Deiter scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. Madison Coester scored 12 and had four steals for Girard.
Class 2A boys
Moundridge 58, Pittsburg Colgan 25– Moundridge, which improves to 24-0, was led by Heath Churchill (12), Kepple Adolph (11) and Bear Moddelmog (10).
Valley Falls 58, Syracuse 54 — Valley Falls’ Damian Cervantez made five threes and scored 21 points. Trenten Vanhoutan had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and Collin Kearney had 18 points, 11 rebounds. Syracuse’s Alvaro Leyva scored 23, hitting 3 of 5 from three, and Charlie Keller had 11 points.
Sterling 97, Chase County 48 — Sterling, which scored 58 points in the first half, shot 38 of 55 from the field, including 13 of 22 from three. Boston Ekart was 4 of 5 from three and had 22 points, Blake Smith was 4 of 6 from three and finished with 19 points. Zane Farney and Zachary Dashiell each scored 12. Chase County’s Carson Schroer had 13 points, Wyatt Grifin 11 and Hudson Doty 10.
Ell-Saline 82, Rossville 78 — Ell-Saline’s Kas Kramer scored 25 points, hitting 3 of 4 from three. Brogan Rowley scored 21 hitting 8 of 8 from the line, and had nine rebounds. Reese Krone scored 17 and Garrison Zerger had 10. Rossville’s Jack Donovan scored 25 — he had four threes and was 7 of 7 from the line — and seven rebounds. Cameron Miller had 16 points, 15 rebounds, and Jakoby McDonnell had 13 points, seven assists.
Class 1A-I girls
Centralia 50, St. John 27 — Centralia, which is still unbeaten, was led by Hayden Kramer’s 17 points, and Oen Deters and Taya Gibbs, who each scored 10. Deters also had eight rebounds, nine steals.
Troy 33, Central Plains 25
Little River 76, Crest 27 — Little River, which remains unbeaten, had four in double figures — Havana Olander (16 points), Avery Lafferty (12), Saelyn Raleigh (12) and Adelynne Strecker (10).
Quinter 65, South Gray 54 — Quinter’s Braelyn Blackwell scored 16 and had nine rebounds in the win. Bryn Gillespie and Serenity Smith each had 12 points. South Gray was led by Kylie Stapleton’s 11 points and Jacee Deges’ 10.
Class 1A-II girls
Linn 51, South Haven 39 — Eighth-seeded Linn (17-6) beat South Haven (21-2) to advance. Marcela Huerta hit 7 of 9 from the field for a game-high 15 points with eight rebounds. Isabelle Rogge scored 10 with 10 rebounds, and Gretchen Bott had four assists.
Attica 47, Bucklin 40 — Attica’s Zoie Redgate was 4 of 8 from three for 17 points, and she also had six steals. Liberty Swingle scored 15 with eight rebounds, and Kady Hemphill had seven rebounds, Baylee Ricke six. Attica played five players. Bucklin was led by Emmerson Kirk’s 17 points, and Karlee Evans had 12 points, seven rebounds. Tristan Stout had four steals.
Lebo 44, Hodgeman County 24 — Lebo’s Allison Konrade scored 14 points, hitting 4 of 5 from three, Saige Hadley scored 12, Siara Crouch 10.
Hanover 64, Wallace County 49 — Hanover’s Anna Jueneman scored 21 points and had six steals, Alyssa Scheele scored 12 and Drew Bruna had 11 points with nine rebounds. Jersi Benisch scored 27 points and had six rebounds to lead Wallace County.
