Class 6A

Boys

SM Northwest 63, Maize 55 — Each time SM Northwest looked like it was pulling away — up 20-13, up 37-27, for instance — Maize made big shots. With SM Northwest leading 46-41 after three, Alan Hanna and Brayden Myovela both scored in the first minute to get within one. But Maize didn’t get any closer than 61-55. SM Northwest’s Tyler Salmon hit his first four three-pointers and scored 18 points. Ethan Taylor, SMNW’s 7-footer, scored 19 with six rebounds and two blocks. Van Collins had 12 points. Maize’s Alec Grill was 9-of-12 shooting, including 4 of 6 from three, for a game-high 22 points. Myovela scored 13 with six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and Justin Hanna had 10 points, three blocks.

Olathe North 65, Wichita Heights 58 — Olathe North trailed 21-16 midway through the second quarter but finished the period with a 14-0 run. Heights made a run to get within 54-56 with 1:40 remaining, but couldn’t get a three to fall as Olathe North hit free throws. Olathe North was led by Sam Simmon’s 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting. he also had five rebounds, six steals. Jaalan Watson had 17 points, Boyd Bradley 11, and Cam Love had 16 rebounds. Heights’ Chase Robinson scored 24 points and had 21 rebounds, three steals. Jalihn Timmons scored 12 and Amalachi Wilkins had 10 points, seven rebounds.

Girls

Derby 68, Olathe North 55 — Karlie Demel’s three gave Derby a 50-39 lead late in the third, but behind Asia Lee, Olathe North went on an 8-0 run to get within three. Derby held Olathe North without a field goal in the final 2:20. Macayla Askew led Derby with 16 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Sarai Graham and Aysia Fox each scored 14, and Demel had 12 points, eight rebounds. Fox shot 6 of 8 from the field, and Kallie Rickords had five assists. Lee scored 28 points, hitting 13 of 15 from the free-throw line, and Lailah Boyd had nine rebounds, two blocks.

Wichita Heights (20-3) vs. BV North (19-4), 8 p.m.

Class 5A

Boys

Highland Park 60, KC Piper 55 — Highland Park’s Ja’Corey Robinson had 26 points and eight rebounds, five assists, and Mikey Williams had 18 points. Piper’s Derrick Jackson had 18 points, six rebounds, and Phillip Moore scored 13 with six rebounds.

Kapaun (20-3) vs. Andover (20-3), 8 p.m.

Girls

St. Thomas Aquinas 68, Spring Hill 54 — Aquinas’ Alex Crouse scored 22 points, hitting three threes, and Laila Boylan scored 20 with seven assists. Sofia Calovich had 12 points, 11 rebounds. Spring hill’s Isla Herman had a team-high 19 points, and Sydney Buscher scored 17 with 13 rebounds.

Topeka Seaman 55, Andover 49 — Seaman, which is unbeaten, was led by Kinley Wilhelm’s 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Maddie Gragg scored 11 points with six rebounds. Andover’s Aliyah Green scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds.

Class 4A

Boys

McPherson 52, Ottawa 50 2OT — McPherson handed Ottawa its first loss as Gabe Pyle hits the game-winning shot for the second straight game to win in double overtime. Pyle scored 16 points and had six rebounds, and Jett Pyle scored 13 with four assists. Ottawa was led by Haydon Hull’s 18 points — he hit 4 of 6 from three. Cole McGrath had 11 points, Aiden McCullough 13 rebounds and five assists.

Rock Creek 63, Andale 48 — Rock Creek’s Elijah Bell and Coley Burguess each had 19 points. Bell had six rebounds, Burguess six assists and three steals, and Peter Martinie had seven rebounds. Ten of 12 players scored for Andale.

Girls

Wellington 46, Buhler 30 — Wellington’s Val Norwood scored 20 and had six assists, and Britt Zeka had 12 points, three threes and seven rebounds. Buhler’s Natalya Krafels scored 11 and had nine rebounds.

Boys

Hesston 60, Galena 42 — Hesston’s Reed Friesen had 20 points, nine rebounds, four steals. Drew Bartell scored 14 points and had five rebounds. Asher Deutschendorf had five assists. Daniel Lumbreras and Friesen each had four steals. Galena’s Jackson Perry scored 27, hit 4 of 7 from three, and had five rebounds.

Silver Lake (19-5) vs. Goodland (21-3), 8 p.m.

Girls

Halstead 46, Colby 33 — Halstead’s Bailey Bernal scored 16 points, and Addisen Wills and Jordy Schroeder each scored 10. Wills had four assists, three steals. Colby’s Shaylee Holzmeister had 15 rebounds.

Silver Lake 65, Hesston 58 — Silver Lake handed Hesston its first loss, with Kailyn Hanni leading the way with 28 points on 6-of-9 field goals and 15 of 17 from the line, along with six assists. Ella Bolan had 14 points, and Karys Deiter had seven rebounds. Hesston’s Kendal Brueggen scored 27 points with ive rebounds and two blocks. Kaycee Mason scored 14 points.

Class 2A

Boys

Moundridge 74, Valley Falls 46 — Moundridge, which is unbeaten, was led by Henry Hecox, who hit 4 of 7 from three and finished with 17 points. Bear Moddelmog scored 16, and Heath Churchill had 16 points, nine rebounds, two blocks. Kaiser Kanitz had six assists and two blocks. Valley Falls’ Collin Kearney had 20 points, hitting 3 of 3 from three, and Trenten Vanhoutan scored 11.

Sterling 76, Ell-Saline 59 — Blake Smith and Zach Dashiell each scored 20 points for Sterling, as they shot a combined 19 of 24 from the field. Boston Ekart scored 16 and Zane Farney had six rebounds.

Girls

Moundridge 46, Inman 26 — Cammi Unruh and Hattie Hecox each scored 14 points. Mackenzie Conkling had seven rebounds and Unruh six. Suttyn Harris had seven rebounds for Inman.

Olpe 44, Central Plains 34 — Olpe had three players in double figures — Dexton Hoelting (18 points, three threes), Abbott Bailey (10 points), Brecken McGuire (10 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals). Central Plains’ Brodie Crites scored 11 and had four steals.

South Central (22-2) vs. South Gray (20-4), 8 p.m.

Girls

Centralia 58, Troy 40 — Centralia, which is unbeaten, got 24 points from Oen Deters, who also had 12 rebounds, seven assists, four steals. Tava Gibbs scored 13, and Hayden Kramer had 11 points. Troy’s Harper Whetstine scored 22 points, hitting four threes, and had four assists. Allison Franken had eight rebounds.

Little River 68, Quinter 52 — Little River, which is unbeaten, shot 23 of 38 from the field. Avery Lafferty was 6 of 9 from the floor for a game-high 22 points, along with six rebounds and five assists. Havana Olander made 5 of 6 shots and had 10 points, and Adelynne Strecker had four assists. Quinter’s Braelyn Blackwill scored 13 points, and had four assists and four steals. Bryn Gillespie had seven rebounds, six assists.

Class 1A-II

Boys

Cunningham 79, Elyria Christian 69 – Cunningham, which is unbeaten, was led by Luke Albers’ 32 points — he hit 4 of 5 from three and had four assists, six rebounds — and Will Wegerer, who had 30 points, hitting 10 of 10 from the free-throw line and finishing with six assists. Nate Sterneker had 12 points, six rebounds. Elyria Christian was led by Ty Romero, who had 30 points, six rebounds and was 6 of 9 from three. Gavin Robertson scored 13.

Axtell (23-1) vs. Dighton (21-3), 8 p.m.

Girls

Linn 54, Attica 39 — Linn’s Baileigh Peters scored 19 points, hitting four threes, and Marcela Huerta had nine rebounds, Gretchen Bott seven assists. Attica’s Zoie Redgate scored 17, and Baylee Ricke had 10 points, eight rebounds.

Hanover 37, Lebo 34 — Hanover’s Anna Jueneman and Drew Bruna each had 10 points. Jueneman had seven rebounds, three steals. Lebo’s Saige Hadley scored 17 and had 11 rebounds, three steals.
