After a better end to the season, Wichita Southeast’s linebacker, punter and kicker Marcus Johnson will look to lead the Buffaloes to even more wins this year.
“Probably one of my best strengths is my speed for my size and weight,” he said. “My reaction time is like a sixth sense. I can locate the ball no matter where I am and be there at the right time.”
Johnson has been playing football since fourth grade and brings a relentless work ethic that has earned him a good bit of recognition.
“Marcus is the first to everything-weights, off season workouts, practice, it doesn’t matter,” head coach Corby Milleson said. “Marcus is steady. He has 100% bought in to how we are turning around the program at Southeast.”
The senior earned all-league honorable mention honors at linebacker and punter.
“What makes me one of the best players is that I put in the work even outside of football,” he said. “If I don’t like my performance, I go watch myself on film and learn to get better every day.”
Now this year his goals this season are earning first team all-state and all-league honors, reaching 100 total tackles, and securing his first Division I offer. He currently holds an offer from Friends University but has his eyes on more.
“I’m looking for a program that has my major and a strong football mentality,” Johnson said.
