For Reece Pauly, a versatile guard/forward for Maize South High School, this basketball season is all about growth, grit, and reaching new heights as a team. After a productive offseason, Pauly enters the year with one clear goal of helping lead the Mavericks to the state tournament.

“I’m looking forward to competing with my teammates every day and getting better,” Pauly said. “Our goal is to make it to the state tournament,” Pauly shared, and the team is ready to put in the work to get there.

Known for his competitiveness and work ethic, Pauly has focused on becoming a complete player, putting extra effort into the defensive side of his game.

“I worked on my defense a lot over the offseason so I can be a dual threat,” he explained. That commitment to be a dual threat shows in the number of steals Pauly has accumulated, a stat he takes the most pride in, and a reflection of his hustle and determination.

Pauly’s versatility makes him a key piece of the Maize South lineup. His ability to guard multiple positions, attack the basket, and stretch the floor gives his team valuable flexibility on both ends. But beyond individual goals, his mindset remains team-first, focused on chemistry, communication, and shared success.

Off the court, Pauly balances multiple commitments. He’s also a football player, bringing toughness and athleticism from the gridiron to the hardwood. Looking ahead, Pauly plans to attend college and earn a degree.

With his competitive spirit and team-oriented approach, Reece Pauly is ready to make a major impact for Maize South this season.
