After breaking her collarbone in the state third place match, junior Maddie Fullerton is back and excited for her first year as an upperclassmen.

“Sadly I didn’t get to wrestle much over the summer. As soon as I got cleared I was in the wrestling room six days a week and lifting five days a week. I have done everything I can to get back where I was and more now,” Fullerton said.

Fullerton, who wrestles at 130 pounds, has one main goal this season and it is to stay healthy so she can compete for a state title.

“I feel I had a good shot to come close but for me to accomplish that I need to keep a humble mind and never stop working hard,” Fullerton said.

As a junior, it is now on Fullerton to help lead her team, and that is what she does.

“I will always help my team whenever they need it. We have a lot of freshmen this year so it gives me lots of opportunities to be a leader. If and if the girls want to stay after practice to work on something I will stay with them. If they are overweight I will stay and wrestle with them until they are at a weight they like or even during practice if they need help or have questions I drop everything and go help them,” Fullerton said.
