Derby 61, Maize South 47 — After Maize South’s Jaela Thompson scored in the first two minutes of the second quarter for the 14-13 lead, Derby answered with a 19-4 run for the 32-18 halftime lead. The Panthers shot 22 of 44 from the field with Macayla Askew scoring a game-high 21 points. She also had 13 rebounds and three steals. Aysia Fox scored 13, hitting 6-of-6 shots at one point, to finish with 13 points, four steals. Karlie Demel had seven rebounds, three steals. Maize South’s Jaela Thompson hit three threes and had nine of her team-high 13 points in the second half. Aliyah Singateh had 11 points, five rebounds, and Blakely Lowe hit three threes and had 10 points.
