Class 6A girls
Wichita East 55, Olathe South 45 at Wichita State — East was led by Quinacy Galbert (14 points) and Jada Davis (13 points, five rebounds) in the win. Olathe South’s Eve Long scored a game-high 30 points, hitting 11 of 20 from the field and finishing with eight rebounds.
BV Northwest 49, Wichita Heights 48 — Heights’ Aniyah Harris hit a three to tie the score at 48-all with 25 seconds remaining, but BV Northwest’s Regan Becker hit 1 of 2 threes as Heights’ shot at the buzzer was off. It was the first loss for Heights, the No. 1 seed. BV Northwest’s Regan Becker scored a game-high 19 points and had five assists, five rebounds. Milena Domazet had seven rebounds, Molly Numrich six. Heights was led. by Aaliyah Waller (17 points) and Harris, who had 16 points, 12 rebounds. Ashlynn Reed had six rebounds.
Derby 61, Topeka 58 — With 9.7 seconds remaining, Derby’s Alex Dinsmore hit both free throws to put the Panthers up three. Topeka’s three from the right side was just after the buzzer. Derby’s Macayla Askew scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half, and she finished with 10 rebounds, six steals while hitting 3 of 6 from three. Siaunna Carter scored 13, Aysia Fox had 12 and Karlie Demel had 14 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds. Topeka’s Ashleyrhuajh Rayton scored 17 with four steals, Hailey Caryl had 15 points, five steals, five rebounds, and Keimara Marashall had 11 points, 11 rebounds, four steals.

Bishop Miege 61, Eudora 48 — Mary Grant scored 26 points to lead Miege and Jayla McClinton had 17. Grant had six rebounds, McClinton 13, and Scarlett Singleton had 12 points. Eudora’s Avah Dye scored 18 with five rebounds, and Bryann Deterding had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists.

Eureka 51, Oakley 45 — Eureka wins its first state tournament game in school history. Brenna Rucker led Eureka with 21 points, Ellianna Coulter had 11. Oakley’s Alexa Weiser scored 12 and Chesney Marshall 11.
Ellinwood 55, Rossville 48 — Ellinwood was 4 of 4 from the free-throw line in the final 20 seconds. Ellinwood’s Brynn Widener shot 3 of 6 from three and had 21 points, nine rebounds, three steals. Mette Maxwell scored 10 with six rebounds, Julia Schlessiger had eight rebounds and Regan Widener six. Rylee Dick scored 31 for Rossville, hitting five threes, and Nora Burdiek had 11 rebounds.

Norwich 49, Rural Vista 35 — Norwich’s Lucas Adams scored a game-high 19 points, hitting 9 of 13 from the field and finishing with 19 points. Jayden Benge had 18 points, six rebounds, six steals and Lane Hilger had seven rebounds. Rural Vista’s Tucker Mein had nine rebounds, Celian Van Bemten six and Tyler Brockmeier five.

Axtell 68, Hutchinson Central Christian 44 — Axtell’s Wyatt Detweiler made 5 of 10 from three and had a game-high 22 points. Colin Shaughnessy had eight assists, 10 rebounds, four steals and Logan Sandmann scored 15 with eight rebounds. Hutchinson Central Chrsitian was led by Cal Barnett (13 points, six rebounds), Luke Eigsti (11 points, five steals) and Pierce Huff had 10 points.
